Almond and sesame seed brittle ‘Boulukunio’


This version of almond and sesame seed brittle is an ancient recipe that dates back generations from the home cooks of medieval Spain.

The Sephardim of Rhodes Island offer this handcrafted confection especially at the festivals of Purim and Hanukkah.

Although time consuming and a little fiddly to make, most households like to keep a stash of ‘Boulukunio’ in an airtight tin on standby. This addictive, healthy snack is gluten-free and well worth the effort. Enjoy!
